Bill possesses strong leadership, communication, and project management skills. His expertise lies in guiding projects through all phases of the construction process – concept, design development, bid, construction, and warranty. He develops program schedules, provides cost models and estimates, manages teams of individuals, delivers comprehensive presentations, and ensures that a project meets and exceeds all expectations.
Eileen McCarthy, Vice President

Eileen has functioned as the Vice President of McCarthy & Smith since 2000, and she has extensive experience in the construction industry gained in both the Chicago and Detroit markets. Her career path highlights her diverse project management skills from working on a variety of project types and sizes in both pre-construction and construction. She manages the construction and renovation of diverse projects and has been involved with over $1 billion worth of construction throughout her career. Eileen serves as a board member for the Michigan Chapter of the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of America and Sweet Dreamzz Detroit.
Deb McCarthy, Business Development Director

Deb brings her strong engineering and management knowledge and skills to the construction industry through her work with McCarthy & Smith as the Business Development Director. She has worked on a range of engineering projects as project manager, systems engineer, and design/development engineer. Deb combines her excellent communication, team building, and management skills with engineering knowledge to manage the business development activities for the company. She is responsible for developing marketing strategies, preparing marketing materials, compiling proposals, and preparing presentations for potential projects.
Doug Underwood, Project Director

Doug has over 30 years of construction leadership. He has managed numerous multi-million dollar projects, with many involving multi-facility construction and renovation occurring simultaneously. Doug possesses strong leadership, organizational, and project management skills, which enable him to successfully manage the construction process from concept through warranty. Doug has extensive on-site and office-based construction experience through his work as a field superintendent, project manager and project director.
Ted Smith, Chief Estimator & Project Manager

Ted joined McCarthy & Smith in 2004 and brought his 40+ years of construction experience and expertise to the institutional construction market. After returning from active military duty in 1964, Ted began his career in the construction industry in Detroit with Palmer-Smith Company. He served as a field engineer, job superintendent, project estimator, project manager, vice president of estimating, vice president of project management, executive vice president, and chief executive officer and chairman until 1988. He is a seasoned professional with a long and diversified career in the construction industry. Ted enjoys the opportunity to work on projects that make a difference in their communities.

Bill has over 35 years of multidisciplinary construction experience. His work experience includes an array of projects in educational, healthcare, hotel and entertainment, industrial, and commercial markets. His strengths include facility planning, program management, pre-construction planning, project approach and work plan development, and the scheduling and implementation of best construction processes. Bill is a strong team leader, and he works well in bringing people together for an effective project team.
